Picture-Perfect Ceremony Backdrops

We all take lots of photos. LOTS. And they almost all live their entire lives on our phones, just hanging out, taking up space. Sure, a few superstars make it to Instagram, only to be quickly scrolled through and forgotten.

BUT. Your wedding photos? Those are the unicorns of photos, the special ones that you’ll actually PRINT and FRAME (gasp!). And one of those framers is bound to be that *perfect* ceremony shot: you and your partner saying your vows, the ring exchange, or the first kiss.

You’ll be staring at that photo for the rest of your life, so make it count. And, to help you do just that, we’ve rounded up five of our most popular ceremony backdrop ideas. All were created by our amazing in-house floral design team and installed here at the barn, but, you can take any of these ideas (no matter where you’re getting married) and make it work for you!

1. Go Green

Sometimes, simplicity is best, and an all-greenery backdrop is always timeless and chic. Covering a pergola (or arbor) with greenery is STUNNING:

And let’s not forget about one of our signature backdrops, the ceremony ring. Here it is, covered in just greenery, but it also looks great with flowers (just sayin’).

We also love hanging a garland of greenery around our double doors leading into the barn. And although I of course love the barn doors as the backdrop, this same look could be applied to any doorway and still look great.

2. Drape it

Our team has created some of the prettiest ceremony backdrops by adding drapery to the pergola. Sometimes we leave it loose and flowing, sometimes we tie it back, but it’s always gorgeous.

3. Flower Wall

I don’t think I need to explain this one. An entire wall of flowers and greenery is *chef’s kiss*.

4. Grounded Floral Arch

If you have a really stunning natural background (maybe an ocean, forest, or mountain view), and don’t want to block any of that gorgeous scenery, you’ll want to go with a grounded ceremony arch. There are SO many variations of this, but basically, you stand in the middle of a semi-circle of flowers and say your vows. Simply lovely.

5. Asymmetrical

Asymmetrical ceremony backdrops are very organic and can work in a variety of locations. In fact, this type of backdrop is one of the few that look just as good in a warehouse/industrial setting as it does in a garden/farm setting. Below are two examples that we’ve done in Raleigh and Pittsboro; each one gives off a very modern, eclectic vibe.

And of course, an asymmetrical arch looks equally as pretty in a garden/farm setting:
