What happens when you ❤️ flowers, are captivated by old barns and farmhouses, and find all sorts of inspiration and wonder in nature?

You dream BIG and start growing flowers bursting with color, open a floral design studio (because those flowers are too pretty not to share!) and renovate a gorgeous old barn for magical, garden-inspired gatherings.

Hi there 👋 I’m Kara, and I’m so happy you found us. Most days you’ll find me out in the fields or in the greenhouse, planting flowers and fighting a losing battle with my arch nemesis, the weed. 😂 The quote below (my favorite) pretty much sums up why I do what I do….and if you feel the same way, you’ve come to the right place!

The Barn of Chapel Hill at Wild Flora Farm is my twenty-two acre family flower farm and floral design studio located only 12 miles from downtown Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We specialize in cut flowers and honey, floral workshops, and garden-inspired weddings and special events.

Built in 1864 in Marcy, New York, our historic barn was relocated to the farm in the fall of 2016. The incredible, hand-hewn hemlock beams of the original structure remain intact, with additional square footage added to fully modernize the space for farm events.

The barn is the perfect blend of historic and modern (but don’t take my word for it; stop by for a visit and see for yourself!)

Our barn hosts all types of celebrations, including corporate parties and team building retreats, bar and bat mitzvahs, holiday parties, weddings and rehearsal dinners, private flower workshops, and farm-to-table dinners. My team and I are always on-site, making sure the flowers look perfect, the candles are lit, and everything runs smoothly.

The farm’s flower fields and greenhouse provide buckets and buckets of gorgeous, seasonal blooms that our in-house florist, Jennifer Wood, uses in her floral designs. We also open up the farm a few times each year for u-pick, and we offer flower CSA shares in both the spring and fall.

Take a look as Jenn creates an arrangement using flowers and foliage gathered from our fields:

Jenn creates all the #FlowerMagic for our events, and she works closely with other flower farmers in the area to source as many local blooms as possible. If we don’t grow it, we’ll try to find it nearby…the most uniquely beautiful and fragrant flowers are always seasonal and local!

I strongly support state and national efforts to protect pollinators, and, working with Bee Downtown, we established an apiary in the spring of 2016. 🐝

We sell our honey at local festivals (such as PepperFest), and I announce where we’ll be throughout the year on social media and in our monthly newsletter….sometimes we even have rare (and delicious) purple honey!

Proceeds from the honey produced on the farm are donated to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

My dad, who has Parkinson’s disease, loves coming out to our workshops and creating flower arrangements! Proceeds from our farm honey benefit Parkinson’s research.
